F4E project “Design, Development and  Validation of the European Gyrotron for ITER”

Within the framework of the European Gyrotron Consortium,  in 2015 the work will be continued to fulfill the tasks of the grant F4E-GRT-553 "Design, Development and Validation of the European Gyrotron for ITER."

In particular:

Advanced physical modelling of the interaction in the 1 MW gyrotron
for ITER by preliminary estimation of:

(i) the influence of reflected electrons (due to depression voltage),
(ii) the energy spread induced by the negative mass instability as the
beam drifts from cathode to cavity.

These studies are important for understanding the reasons for possible
efficiency deterioration of gyrotrons.
